Cincinnati Bell and CBTS have a rich history of innovation and reinvention. Since 1873 as the first independent telephony company formed, Cincinnati Bell has celebrated many “firsts” and leadership positions in the market, including:

  • 1992 First in the nation to deploy SONET ring technology
  • 1994 First in the nation to deploy Metro Ethernet services
  • 1997 First ADSL installation in North America
  • 2002 Early IP telephony adopter
  • 2008 First wireless carrier to offer a Smart Phone Family Plan
  • 2008 Launched the first Virtual Data Center (VDC or Infrastructure as a Service)
  • 2010 Early adoption of fiber technology - begin investment of $270 Million in network infrastructure
  • 2010 Cincinnati Bell Fioptics product suite reached 25,000 customer mile stone
  • 2013 Leader in data center business
  • 2013 Record-high Fioptics activations
  • 2014 Expands availability of Gigabit Internet speed offering
Both Cincinnati Bell and CBTS have continuously evolved to meet the needs of our customers and to support and drive new advancements in technology.  In 2013, Cincinnati Bell Business Markets and CBTS merged, in order to better support our enterprise customers through an expanded product portfolio. We now give our business customers a single source for all IT and communications needs and an expanded technical team of over 700 engineering resources.
