Dayton Public schools is an urban district of approximately 14,000 students in pre-kindergarten through high school.
The Information Systems Committee at Dayton Public School District (DPSD) was searching for a primary, experienced IT vendor to provide a unique and integrated solution for their diverse IT needs. Those services included the need for help desk support, break/fix maintenance support, development of software applications and standards, hosted ERP platform support, project management, LAN/WAN solutions, training, as well as network monitoring and management.

This in turn, presented CBTS the opportunity to develop and implement cost reduction methods, while increasing quality standards at DPSD.

CBTS, through cost-cutting initiatives and best practices, reduced the number of the IT professionals on site from 34 to 23 over six years. The current staff includes a project manager, technicians with various certifications and experienced support personnel.
CBTS has successfully implemented the entire project, deployed the network and managed the IT services described above. The services CBTS provides to DPS allow the school IT leadership to set direction and vision for DPS learning advantages using IT technologies. In this partnership, CBTS focuses on the operational efficiencies, and DPS focuses on direction.
The contract has also allowed Dayton Schools to seek and leverage “Just-in-Time”, best-of-breed talent. This approach does not require DPS to invest in long term resources for some short- and long-term projects. The CBTS deployed consultants remain current with IT industry changes, and maintain training updates and certification. This flexible staffing solution from CBTS enabled DPS to have access to highly qualified IT professionals and industry best practices.
